I need hair color help from a pro!

I’m just looking to buy some professional hair color from Sally Beauty Supply and need a little help!
Naturally, I’m a dark blonde with reddish tones.
Currently, I just box-colored my hair with L’Oreal Superior Preference Lightest Ash Blonde (LB01)
The box color worked fine, but it’s left some yellow-ish tones & wasn’t quite ashy enough for what I wanted. I don’t plan on coloring my hair for another 6 weeks, but I need some help for when I do. I’d like to use something more professional without paying the professional price.
I was looking at IonColorBrilliance.com and trying to learn what to buy from Sally’s to get my hair a very light ash blonde.. this is what I was going to purchase & I need someone to tell me if I’m correct in doing so! …Ion Color 10A with a 40 Volume Developer… ?
Will the Developer help my hair from being brassy? Or is there a toner that you would recommend?

You shouldn’t need 40 vol developer to bring your hair lighter if your a dark blonde already – i would suggest 20 vol maximum with your 10A which should lighten it enough easily. Your 10A isnt a high lift blonde so the ratio you use with your peroxide is 1:1 and despite what it will say you can buy the cheapest peroxide not just there brand to mix it with.
However in the meantime i would get yourself down to sallys and get yourself a violet toner http://www.sallyexpress.com/viewCategory.aspx?cid=756 which should take off the brassiness.
