Why is it the women’s perception of what is beautiful differ from men’s perception of female beauty?
Women want to be slim (as in Vogue and in high fashion magazines), while men want their women curvy. How do we reconcile this?
Women who constantly want to be thin do so not because they feel that men prefer them to be thin. (don’t men like boobs and butts?) They do so because of competition with other women. Women often compare with each other to see who has lost the most weight, who can fit into the smallest jeans…
Women in fashion do not have men’s preferences in mind. Models are often much skinnier than the average woman because even designers admit that high fashion models have to be “walking clothes hangers”. To them, when amplified in fashion magazines and on the runway, a woman of average size would simply make the clothes look unattractive.
